Abstract
It is very difficult to understand the change of hemodynamics of the hepatic masses and to do differential diagnosis by these information in conventional contrast enhancement CT scan by drip infusion method. so. we used IV bolus CT by rapid
injection of
contrast materials and rapid scan after connecting the injectior into peripheral IV route and arterial CT scans after directly placing the arterial catheter into superior mesenteric and hepatic arteries in 71 patients. IV bolus CT scan better
visualized
the hypervascular change of the masses, tissue heterogeneity because only active lesion site was enhanced, characteristic capsular enhancement and extracapsular infiltration and recurrence after embolization in hepatomas. In hemangiomas we could
devide
into early and late enhancing types according to maximal enhancement time. In metastatic malignancies and cholangiocarcinomas, we could see the characteristic findings on early and delayed phase could not obtain in conventional CT scan.
The portal CT scan showed high sensitivity in detecting early lesion or subclinical metastatic foci.
The arterial CT scan was good for evaluate the internal characters of the masses and differential diagnosis.
In conclusion, the rapid enhancement CT scans are strikingly useful CT methods in differential diagnosis of the hepatic masses.
